Department
Rules.
On duty and in the department. DOT has a low tolerance for rule-breaking, and not knowing a rule is no excuse.
Handbook and quick actions
On duty (Rules & Regulations)
Traffic laws
Obey every traffic law at all times, even when responding to a call. Amber lights don’t give you an exemption: no faster than 55 MPH, or 45 in the 45 zone. This goes for taxis and towing.
Pickup and lane position
Park straight in a lane or in the median when collecting a vehicle. Angled on the road is moderated. Always keep one lane of traffic open; if that’s impossible, call for assistance. Never park in the median unless you’re collecting a vehicle.
Session limits
Per session: 3 tow trucks or flatbed trailers (they share slots), 1 Tires+, 2 snow plows, and unlimited taxis and construction trucks. If tow slots are full, go online as a taxi or another DOT vehicle. Breaking this is a strike or written warning.
Amber lights
Only at a scene collecting a vehicle, or with a vehicle on your back. Never while responding or patrolling.
RTO privilege
You can see and join RTO. Don’t abuse it: only use it in a session, and follow RTO rules. Trainees may never join it.
Tow pickup position
Always park in front of the vehicle involved at the scene.
Cones
Always put cones around a vehicle pickup, straight and tucked in close to your truck.
Construction
No construction for no reason, and never in a tow truck or with a flatbed trailer. Lane blocks and construction only in the construction trucks, with the Construction Certified role.
No off-roading
While online as DOT, you can’t go off-road. That includes parking in the grass.
DOT standards
Follow the vehicle and colour structure.
Flatbed driving
No U-turns or harsh turns, and stay in the right lane when you can. Breaking this with a flatbed trailer doubles the moderation.
Traffic lights
Fix outages on the main GV Drive road; that’s required, and it’s your priority once you’re free and 10-8. Roleplay it realistically, up to 5 minutes per light, with traffic control or law enforcement if needed. With several DOTs online, every unit except tow trucks fixes lights first; with only two trucks, whoever frees up first does it. Don’t leave a session with a broken light on the main road.
Common sense
No written rule doesn’t mean it’s allowed. If something is clearly out of line, you can and will be moderated for it.
In the department (Server Rules)
Quota
At least 4 hours a month to be marked active (Supervisors and Administration have their own, see Ranks). Below that you risk a strike, demotion or termination. A high number of hours gets you a chance at promotion.
Resignations
Open a ticket in #ticket-central and follow the format. Leaving the server without one is a DOT blacklist.
Patrol logs
Log every patrol in the CAD. If something is wrong with your hours, open a ticket or contact a Supervisor.
Strikes
Only appealable strikes can be appealed, 30 days after the strike (an appeal ticket within 2 weeks is declined automatically). Unappealable strikes become appealable after 4 months.
Reinstatements
Resigned members can return at full rank within 1 month. Honorable members (Supervisor and above) within 4 months, with the rank voted on by Administration.
Channel respect
Bot commands go in #bot-commands. You may use the virtual diner there.
Verification
Verify your Roblox account in the DOT server.
Common sense
The same as on duty: if it’s clearly out of line, it isn’t allowed.
Strikes and suspensions
While suspended you can’t patrol or ride along, and some channels are hidden. Stay respectful in #communications. Strikes stay after a suspension. When your time is up, open a support ticket to get your role back; it isn’t removed automatically.
Leave of absence
Request an LOA in #loa-request, for up to 31 days. Need longer? Open a support ticket. Only DOT Supervisors and above accept LOAs. You’re exempt from quota while on LOA.
